ROCCAVERANO - THE CITY

Roccaverano (termed Rocca by the locals) is highest located village in Asti with the impressive views towards the south to the Mediterranean Sea and north/vest towards the French and Swiss alps (ranging from Mont Viso in France to Matterhorn/Monta Rosa in Switzerland). The village is illuminated during the night providing a spectacular and mysterious view.

The landscape around Roccaverano was recently appointed as a particular Italian historical rural landscape of cultural value (Agnoletti, Mauro (editor). Italian Historical Rural Landscapes: Cultural Values for the Environment and Rural Development. Springer Verlag 2013) due to the traditional terraces on the slopes of the hills, the pastures, and the calanchi.

The area is famous for its classified soft goat cheese (Robiola di Roccaverano, DOP).
